Wall-E
For every successful film, it's now commonplace to have an accompanying video game and mobile game. Pixar's latest creation, Wall-E, makes its debut on mobile with a fun platform game that should appeal to fans of the movie. Whilst the game doesn't follow the story of the film (or in fact any particular story at all), there is still plenty to enjoy.
Gamers take on the role of the title character, Wall-E, and must navigate around platform levels in order to locate objects to collect. As you work through the different levels more items become unlocked and you can revisit previous levels to complete later stages and collect different objects. These objects include rubber ducks and fire extinguishers to name a few. In order to collect the objects and complete the level gamers have to get to grips with Wall-E's controls. As you move about you can jump, throw, pick-up objects and combine rubbish to make blocks to aid you.
Whilst the game is relatively short, there is plenty to keep gamers amused. With 15 levels on offer and the opportunity to revisit them several times to collect new objects, it should easily please the target demographic. The game will make you think and sometimes you do have to wrack your brain to figure out what to do next.
Wall-E is visually very strong for a mobile game. The title character has been faithfully recreated and whilst the levels do eventually become quite samey, they are detailed enough to please most gamers. In terms of difficulty Wall-E ups the ante as you progress through the game and we admit that at times we found ourselves rather stuck.
As far as mobile games go Wall-E is one of the better ones we've seen in recent times. It's by no means an incredible game but when you compare it to the recent Indiana Jones mobile game it looks like a masterpiece. Wall-E is good for short bursts and ideal for train journeys. The essence of the movie is captured and that can only be a good thing.
