Spotlight: Guitar Hero

Since its release in 2006, Guitar Hero has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. Not content with being one of the best-selling games across multiple platforms, the game has become a permanent fixture of many house-parties and is even seeping into popular television shows. More recently the game has popped up on hit US teen series Gossip Girl with lead character Serena van der Woodsen battling it out with her love rival Vanessa for the affections of her on/off boyfriend Dan Humphrey via a battle on Guitar Hero.
Guitar Hero started life as a PS2 title back in April 2006. Since then the game has spawned two direct sequels, an encore pack and an artist specific release with the recent Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Guitar Hero has also made the transition to the DS with the brand new title Guitar Hero: On Tour which features a component that you plug into your DS to enable you to rock out. More

Rockstar 08 Deadline Extended

The final submission deadline to enter the UK’s biggest ever search for the greatest unknown talent, RockStar 08 was looming, with the closing date at the end of May drawing ever closer, but organisers have extended the entry deadline by three weeks to 19th June 2008.
Budding music stars and bands hoping for their big break need to visit the official website (www.rockstarbands.co.uk), download and complete the entry form and return it to the competition return address before June 19th 2008 to ensure their entry is received and ready to be judged. More
Guitar Hero At Isle Of Wight

To celebrate the announcement of Guitar Hero performances on the main stage at the forthcoming Isle of Wight Festival (June 12th - 14th), videogame publisher Activision has teamed up with Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings and the historic Dimbola Lodge Museum to create a unique piece of modern art.
The island’s incredibly popular bronze Jimi Hendrix statue - which stands in the grounds of Dimobla Lodge overlooking the site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival - has been temporarily re-branded to turn the original guitar hero’s instrument into one from the videogame Guitar Hero. More
